I recently purchased a Chrysler Grand Voyager which was modified by the staff at PME to suit my needs as a C-5 quadriplegic. It involved the guys at PME having the floor lowered, installing a side entry ramp, adding superlight power steering and a tri spin knob, electronic gear select, electronic park brake, a head rest containing the indicators and high beam which swings in behind me when the wheelchair is locked in, electronic accelerator and brake, a reversing camera and a locking device to lock my power chair in place.
I found the workmanship of the all the modifications to be of the highest quality. The after sales service has been made difficult due to the distance between the PME workshop and my house, however PME have willingly made arrangements to overcome this problem and have been very helpful. Having this car has improved my life dramatically. It has given me back a piece of independence that I once thought impossible.

I would like to thank Bill at PME and all their employees for all their help and support in the modification of my vehicle. PME were very efficient, helpful and supportive through out the process. Getting my car modified gave me back my independence and confidence and I am now able to get around on my own. Thanks again to PME

I was originally referred to Problem Management Engineering (PME) by a couple of Melbourne businesses, which specialise in converting vehicles for disabled drivers. These Melbourne businesses were unable to undertake the type of conversion which I required.
I met Bill initially in November 2006 to discuss with him the conversion of a car for me. The car I wished to purchase was a BMW Coupe. Bill agreed to proceed with the conversion although he expressed to me that it would be "quite a challenge" due to the engineering technology involved with European vehicles.
The work carried out by PME included a Foot Steer conversion (this is very easy to operate), locating an electromechanical gearshift panel to operate the automatic transmission on the right side of the steering column, locating a horn button on the driver's floor, adding extensions to the washer/wiper and cruise control levers, placing a headlight flasher switch in the driver's headrest, locating a custom indicator system consisting of multi-directional stalks to the right of the steering column. All other controls such as the handbrake, electric window and exterior mirror switches, headlights, etc. operate unmodified
The new car was delivered to PME in June 2007 and I took delivery of the modified vehicle in February 2008. Although the car was with PME for approximately 7 months only one visit to PME was required by me in order to determine the placement of the steering wheel in relation to my driving position.
I can say without question that the conversion work carried out by PME and the standard of that work is of the highest calibre and in keeping with the quality of the car. It was obvious that great care was taken as there was absolutely no damage to the bodywork or interior despite the car having been partially stripped. ln regard to the engineering challenges - particularly with the electrical system, the modification work carried out by Bill and his men is remarkable.

My Jeep was the first vehicle in New Zealand installed with mini wheel technology. Only one of the people I had talked to had ever seen one in use before. On December 14 I passed my full license test with ease and I now feel very happy that I am just like any other driver on the road. Since the Jeep has been back in New Zealand I have done around 4000 km and along my journeys I am continually asked where this conversion was done. I reply "By Bill Georgas and his team at PME about 40 km north of Sydney".
Bill told me from the first time we spoke approximately 3 years ago that "We'll get you driving Matthew". At times in the process I wondered if this would happen, each time we made some progress more hurdles would appear such as car yards not wanting to help by letting PME view a Jeep and the New Zealand Government departments not willing to help with funding.
Aspects of my life have totally changed now I do not need to rely on family and friends to get me from place to place. This was the first year I was able to do all my Christmas shopping by myself, I was able to return a small favour to my Mum by taking her to hospital to have eye surgery and picking her up. The list goes on; it has opened up so many new opportunities.
The workmanship by the PME team is outstanding, everything is neat and tidy and all tucked out of the way. The moving arm that holds the mini wheel is brilliant, with the flick of the button it folds out of the way.
Once again I thank the team at PME for all their help in providing me with greater independence and freedom.

My Wife's Father's Multivan is about to have it's first birthday and I thought it timely to say thanks, once again for the great job you and your staff did with the conversion. Since overcoming the couple of minor teething problems at the outset, it has performed flawlessly much to the delight of Don and his daughters.
I would not hesitate to recommend you ad your staff to anyone contemplating a simliar conversion. I hope you are well and that your 'campervan' project is progressing. Thanks,
Mike
When I became aware of the Self-Drive van conversions that PME were carrying out, I contacted Bill Georgas and instantly saw that this would be a solution for me.
I can now say that after having my van for some four years I am more independent than I ever was at any time over the previous thirty plus years. I can come and go as I please, as often as I like; I enjoy visiting family and friends and shopping pain free. This is a means of independence that I recommend to everyone.
Do it before your shoulders give out!

It's a revelation to find someone so competent after all these years, but even more of a revelation to find someone who cares.
PME went beyond the call of duty fixing both of our cars to suit our needs. They even made the Volvo a pleasure to drive. These guys have raised the bar so high, both in terms of workmanship and humanness.
Both my wife and myself developed absolute trust in their advice and work. The whole crew at PME are the original good guys!

Bill and his crew at PME just did the most excellent job, fitting a hoist and hand-controls for our Kia Sportage.
Their attention to detail was amazing, they really listened to us and developed a comprehensive solution that exceeded our expectations. And they did this with great friendliness and courtesy.
Athena is really pleased with the modifications and finds the Sportage easy to drive. We would gladly recommend PME to anyone needing to modify their vehicle.

Bill and the team at PME were simply amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they modified our Pajero beautifully and even dropped us off and picked us up from the local shopping centre.
We are so grateful for the marvelous work that was done, the lovely way we were treated and the fact that the work was done so quickly, even though it was obvious they had a lot of work on. I'm hoping Bill accepts my invitation to bring his daughter out for a ride on our horse, it would be nice to be able to repay the generosity in a small way. PME are much more than great engineers, I recommend them to you. Tell them Wendy and Damien sent you.

PME has made it possible for me to continue to have adventure in my life. They dealt with me professionally and courteously and their work is faultless.
Hand controls are another world, requiring much more concentration and forward thinking but Bill and the gifted team at PME have made it all very doable. With the Spinmaster, I can park on a pin-head.
Not only does PME open up a world of opportunties, Bill and the people around him are inspirational. I'm sure they've been instrumental in making many dreams come true.I'm back on the road and loving every minute. If you're looking for help with your vehicel, look no further.

To reinforce my appreciation for everything you have done for me. I am so appreciative of you getting me back on the road asap.
I appreciated much more how much time it takes to design, problem solve and install one off unique modifications. All your hard work, long hours, knowledge, organisation and risk taking. The freedom and vastly improved lifestyle that my van gives me.
Tony
Very impressed. We had extremely good service. Picked up our car one day and had it back the following day. Once again many thanks.

A BIG THANKYOU :) for your generosity in completing the alterations to the Shoalhaven modified car. I am very happy and excited to now be able to improve the options to Shoalhaven residents needing these modifications.
Thank you for designing and making the Easyspin... It has truly made my life easier and made me more independent... You truly make a robust unit as I never expected it to still be going strong after nearly 10 years of daily use... you know and understand what those of us with upper limb disabilities need. Sharon
Kye is really enjoying the freedom of his car. Thanks for all your help. Thanks to all your workers too :)
Thanks for your help, understanding and compassion. The look on my wife's face whenever we go driving is worth every penny spent. Keep up the good work, the disabled community needs more people like you to make the way a little smoother.

My name is John Mullins and I became an incomplete quadriplegic in 1975. After rehab I was fullly employed for more than 27 years and during this time I drove my self to and from work every day in the family sedan.
All these years of lifting myself in and out eventually resulted in my shoulder rotator cuffs wearing out and it caused my retirement as I could no longer, even with assistance at both ends, continue to make this effort and endure the constant pain. I was able to work from home for two more years and hardly ever drove during this time which was very confining and frustrating.
When I became aware of the van conversions that PME were carrying out I contacted Bill Georgas and instantly saw that this would be a solution for me. I can now say that after having my van for four years I am more independent than I ever was at any time over the previous 30 plus years.
I can come and go as I please as often as I like visiting family and friends and shopping is almost a daily occurrence which I enjoy pain free. If this option had been available to me earlier I probably would not have retired when I did so I can only say this is a means of independence that I recommend to everyone and do it before the shoulders give out!

The humble Spinmaster from PME has made my life so much better. Much better than I ever realised, until I lost the use of it for a couple of weeks.
The Spinmaster simply makes it possible for me to drive. I can't actually drive very far, but if we need groceries, medication, milk, bread or even just a newspaper, I'm able to do it on my own. Prior to getting back in the Driver's seat, my husband had to drive me around everywhere. It took me three whole years to get my license back but I now have so much more independence, something we both love.
It's more than just independence however, I've also experienced a huge boost in my confidence and sense of self-worth. I will never take the Spinmaster for granted again. Let me recommend PME to anyone looking to improve their lives with the independence (and eveything that goes with it) that driving yourself can bring.
Gail.
