We’ve never had a vehicle that we couldn’t modify. That’s not to say it won’t happen, but it hasn’t.
People come to us when others have said “impossible”, and we’ve got them on the road. We are tenacious, inventive and just plain interested in helping people get around. We're engineers... Give us a call.
The type, and extent, of physical disability differs radically from person to person. We literally start from scratch with every new client, carefully assessing their needs, abilities and context. Every engineering solution we produce is tailored to their exact requirements.
Our work will become an integral element in a client’s day-to-day life, so it should fit like a glove. It should make their life easier and richer, without them needing to compromise, unnecessarily, in any way. This is the nature of a real solution.
Real solutions require real engineering. Engineering that is focused on the client’s needs, rooted in experience and delivered with professionalism and courtesy. The engineering involved in our work is highly sophisticated, with a huge range of variables and needs to meet stringent safety and ergonomic standards. PME excels in this field; we deliver real engineering solutions to real human challenges, and we’re getting better all the time.
One of our most successful products is also one of our simplest. The Spinmaster spinner knob is recognised internationally as the best in the world. It is easy to fit and use, ultra-reliable and works a treat. This is just one of the many mechanical driving controls that we can provide; there are many more that cover all vehicle control functions.
Then there’s the realm of electronic mobility controls, epitomised by the Space Drive, a suite of products that cover every control function, requiring minimal movement from the driver.
Driving a vehicle is one thing, but getting in and out can be another significant challenge for people with disability. People in wheelchairs, in particular, need well-designed aids to get them on the road.
Wheelchair clients have a choice of travelling in their chair, or in the car seat. Travelling with the chair requires access to the vehicle and anchoring solutions. If the person is also driving from the wheelchair, additional modifications will be required. Travelling in the car seat requires transfer and storage solutions, allowing them to move from wheelchair to car seat and then automatically storing the chair in, or on the car.
PME also offers a range of products to help people get around outside of the car. Wheelchairs, Scooters and an all-terrain vehicle are all excellent products that we have sourced, over the years, to meet our clients needs.
We don’t stop being engineers when we get out of our cars. We are always looking for ways to make life more dynamic and rewarding. In addition to our core business of vehicle modifications, we offer other products including Pool hoists and home gyms.
We’ll do whatever we can to help our clients realise their goals, including designing and manufacturing items that aren’t available elsewhere. If you’ve got a project in mind, give us a ring.
There’s a lot of information in this site, but it’s not meant to be exhaustive. It’s designed to illustrate the breadth of our capability and the tenacity of our approach. We’ve designed thousands of individual solutions to real life challenges, and we plan to design thousands more. It’s what we do at PME, because that’s what it takes to get past the very significant challenges that many of our clients face every day.
There’s a lot more. We are dedicated to finding solutions for our clients and we’ve got the experience, expertise and capability to get us there. Give us a ring to see what we can do to help you.
