Transfer Self Drive
Enter, transfer and drive away independently
A Self Drive conversion allows people with higher end disabilities to independently enter a vehicle, position themselves into the driving position, and drive away confidently. Transfer Self Drive is ideal for those who have difficulty entering vehicles or storing their wheelchair or scooter but are able to transfer. The transfer motion differentiates the Transfer Self Drive Conversion from the Wheelchair Self-Drive Conversion.
Entering from the side or rear of the vehicle, the Self Driver operates the remote automatic door and wheelchair hoist or ramp by keypad. They then transfer with the aid of a 6 way powered seat that turns and positions itself to convenience the user. From there it is a matter of taking hold of their driving controls and picking their destination.
This conversion allows for the storage of electric wheelchairs or scooters that are too large or heavy for loaders. They are anchored inside the vehicle, close to the Self Driver, for security and ease of transfer.
Vehicle modifications for a wheelchair Self Drive conversion include but are not limited to;
- keypad operated remote door entry and hoist operation
- 6-way power seat base for driver’s seat
- Wheelchair securing device
- Suitable driving controls for the individual
Self Drive modifications are intended to give the user total driving independence.
