Dynamic Living

We are in the business of providing options for people who often feel that their choices are limited. We have a unique combination of understanding, expertise and capability, which translates into minor miracles every day. At PME we are always asking, “What’s possible?”

“I had no idea this was possible”

We hear this all the time. It’s amazing what people will put up with, simply because they don’t believe there are any better options. At PME, our work is focussed on making people’s lives better, often quite dramatically.

Understanding, expertise and capability

PME have been leaders in this field for two decades. We have the experience that comes from continually pushing the envelope, never settling for commonly accepted ‘norms’, always searching for a way to make life better for people with disability.

Our workshop covers over 5000 square feet and is fitted with a huge range of engineering machinery. Our staff are highly qualified and committed to quality workmanship. We supply and fit the latest technology, like the Space Drive, an extraordinary electronic system of driving controls. We manufacture and export internationally; the Spinmaster spinner knob is recognised, across the globe, as best in class for quality, reliability and ease of use.

Bill started this company when he became a paraplegic himself, leveraging his engineering background to make it possible for the physically challenged to achieve more independence. No one understands the needs of disabled drivers and passengers, better than PME. No one has the unique combination of true understanding, technical expertise, industry experience and capability.

If you want to push the boundaries, to explore what is possible in life, don’t hesitate to contact us. You won’t regret it.

What do you really want from life?

This is the question that needs to be asked. It can be confronting for people who are afraid of more frustration, but it’s the question that makes it possible for us to do our best work.

We understand that this is about people’s day-to-day lives. At the end of the day, it’s not about the latest technology, great engineering drawings or beautiful craftsmanship (all of which we love); it’s about people getting more of what they really want from life.

Disability and possibility

There are so many types of physical disability. Paraplegia, quadriplegia, hemiplegia, dwarfism, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), muscular atrophy, muscular dystrophy, Poliomyelitis (polio), Spina Bifida, Thalidomide, amputations, stroke, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, ataxias... and the list goes on.

Working at the latheThe extent of ‘disability’ varies enormously, from limitations in movement, strength and control to complete paralysis, in one or various parts of the body. Knowing what is not possible, we proceed to ask the question “What is possible?” Taking into account the individual’s own desires and their context, we start creating solutions that will provide more independence, freedom and ‘ability’.

Clinical assessment and Occupational Therapists

To really understand what is possible for our clients, the initial assessment process is critical. It is the key to insightful design and really effective engineering – and “Dynamic Living” for our customers.

Assessment is an area we excel in. We engage with every one of our clients with great focus, human empathy and professionalism. We have enormous experience, expertise and technical capability, which allow us to imagine solutions that other companies can’t. We often get clients who have been labelled “too difficult” or “impossible”, and we always deliver.

The process generally involves interviews with the client and an Occupational Therapist they are working with. The OT provides an excellent base of information and understanding of the client’s capabilities and needs, and ongoing guidance and support throughout the design process. We utilise whatever resources are necessary to get a thorough understanding of what’s required, and we share our extensive knowledge to give the client and the OT all the options and variations that are possible. This process can be quite swift but it can also be very involved. Either way, it is the key to great results – vehicle modifications that work like a charm.

Is it possible?

Call us to find out what is possible. We answer that question every day.
