Jerome is a mechanic by trade and loves working on and around anything with an engine. He sustained a T11 spinal cord injury in 2009 but continues to live a life many of us are envious of.
Jerome and his wife Jess went on a 9 month driving holiday in 2014 in his modified Landcruiser with hand controls travelling from the UK across Europe into Russia and down along the Pamir Highway that borders Afghanistan and Tajikistan. He was in and out of hospitals in some pretty questionable places but that didn't stop him crossing deserts, mountain passes and jungles to visit 30 countries In total.
Jerome also rides a Ural motorcycle with hand operated gears and brake. The side-car provides a third wheel for balance and a place to store his wheelchair and for his dog Mungo to sit. On top of all that he is also learning to fly planes.
Jerome says "I’m very privileged to be given the opportunity to work at PME with such a great team, products and knowledge. As a Paraplegic it’s not always easy finding work in your field of expertise; I’ve been lucky enough to be able to use my experience gained as a mechanic, studying Mechanical Engineering and working with people with disabilities. And all to help people realise their dreams and regain their independence through getting back behind the wheel. I really look forward to learning the ropes and helping new clients discover their goals."
We think that Jerome is a spot on fit for the PME culture! What do you think?
